Augmented Reality

I've been developing an augmented reality application at Fraunhofer, CSE (Center for Sustainable Energy) for the iPad.  It will be released as an enterprise application as part of their Building Technology Showcase that will be opening in their new "Living Lab" building at 5 Channel Center, Boston this spring.  The application uses augmented reality to show various building and energy technologies that are part of the building's infrastructure.

Presenting Unity Game Engine at 3D Stimulus Day

I'll be giving a presentation at the Microsoft NERD center for 3D Stimulus Day on the Unity Game Engine.  I'll be going over an example of a creating  First Person Shooter, game, integration of a character from 3ds Max/Motionbuilder, control of characters via scripting, collision detection, particle effects and some insights into using Unity.

Developed Intro to Unity Class

I've been working on developing a hands-on "Intro to Unity" class (version 3.x) to go over the using the interface,terrain building,  creating game objects, import/use of assets, programming in the mono development environment, integration with other 3D/animations applications such as 3ds Max, Maya and MotionBuilder.  Students will be able to build a full 1st person shooter during the class.

Boston Unity Group Kinect/Unity demo

Attended the May 3rd B.U.G. (Boston Unity Group) meeting.  Presented a 5 minute demo of the interface between the Kinect and Unity (Unity Wrapper) for real-time control of game characters in Unity.  Showed an example project in Unity controlling a game object using the Unity Wrapper and also some demo game examples and Kinect/MotionBuilder interface/motion capture with Kinect/Mobu  after the main presentation.  This was for Great Eastern Technology who were hosting the meeting and the great after meeting get together at the CBC.

As of March 2011 I've been contracting at Great Eastern Technology ( in the areas of Autodesk Media and Entertainment products (3ds Max, Maya, MotionBuilder, Mudbox, Softimage), research/demos of motion capture integration with Kinect/MotionBuilder/Unity game engine, Control-by Gesture, pipeline analysis/efficiency and training.

MIT Music|Machines Event

I attended the MIT Music|Machines events over the weekend,
It was great!  I had the pleasure to meet and talk with Leo Beranek - founder of Bolt, Beranek and Newman,
Dr. Marvin Minsky, father of A.I.,  Dr. Joseph Paradiso director the Responsive Environments at the Media Lab and creator of the largest home built modular synthesizer The Mammoth Modular Synthesizer ( ), Miller Puckette developer of PD and MAX/MSP amoung others. This is part of the F.A.S.T (Festival of Arts+Science+Technology
Events are ongoing for the next few months and I highly recommend attending as many as you can!
